About Us

Melbourne University Hockey Club (MUHC) is one of the largest and oldest clubs in Victoria, having been formed in 1907.

We have 7 women's teams, 8 men's teams, and 5 masters teams in the Hockey Victoria competition, from the top competitive grades down to beginner and social hockey. So whether you're looking for a serious many-training-a-week competition, or a social hit around with friends then off to the pub, or anything in between, we have a team to suit you.

Not only are we a force to be reckoned with on the pitch, our vibrant social program is the envy of every other hockey club in the state (and some international clubs as well!). Our social calendar involves major functions each month, such as the all-conquering cocktail party, the not-to-be missed 12 Pubs of Christmas and to top it all off the awe-my-gawd Presentation Dinner at the end of the season. All are invariably well attended, and there is plenty of less formal socialising each week as well.

The club is primarily made up of graduates and current students of The University of Melbourne, but anyone can - and indeed does - join. We have a diverse group of members, with many from overseas, interstate, or regional Victoria, and some who grew up just across the road!

As a university club, we're well-versed in adopting new members each year and making them welcome. So why not join us at one of our many social events, or in whipping the opposition on a balmy Melbourne weekend!
