Summer Hockey is a group of social competitions that run from roughly mid-October to mid-December or mid-February each year (with a break over Christmas, New Year and January).
Competitions are offered in Mixed, Men's, Women's, and Masters. Matches are always played at the same, designated venue (for that particularly competition), at 7pm, 8pm & 9pm, on a set day of the week (and no, there's no training!).
Teams are open to anyone, whether you're a member of MUHC during the regular season, a member of another club, or don't play for a club at all. Team entries are typically organised in late September/early October.
If you'd like to play summer hockey, please fill in this form by 11pm Sunday 1st October, listing the competition(s) you'd like to play in. Please keep in mind the following:
Are you interested in organising a MUHC summer team? Those who nominate for Team Manager will NOT have to pay fees (and no, you won't have to collect money from players and the hassles associated with it). Collecting money from players will be arranged through the Treasurer. You will be responsible for paying umpires and coordinating your team each week. Further details on receiving cash for umpire payments will be released upon appointment of team managers.
Summer hockey fees are $100 up front for the season. This cost is per competition that you're playing in (e.g. if you're playing in both a Monday Mixed team and a Tuesday Men's team, the cost would be $200 all up), and includes the cost of weekly umpire payments.
Goalkeepers & Team Managers are not required to pay fees (for that particular team). Yep, $0!
After the 1st October deadline for expressions of interest, players will be notified which team they're playing with, and a request for payment will be made. Players will have five calendar days to pay their fees via EFT to the MUHC account. If payment is not received or arrangement not made with the Treasurer (firstname.lastname@example.org), then those on the waiting list will be invited to pay within the subsequent seven calendar days (and so-on until the team lists are full).
Further details to be released with team confirmation emails.
Players who wish to play Summer Hockey with MUHC, but were not members of MUHC or another club that plays in a Hockey Victoria competition during the winter season need to register through Hockey Victoria. Instructions on the registration process will be provided with team confirmation emails.
All competitions run by Hockey Victoria finish in December. Hockey Victoria competition fixtures will be made available on HockeyNet as they become available.
The Monday night Mixed competition run by MUHC finishes on 12 February. Each competition consists of 10 rounds, and the MUHC competition additionally has 1 week of finals.
