Join MUHC

Who can join?

MUHC welcomes players of all backgrounds, ages and abilities. You don’t need to have a connection to the University - anyone can join us! We have both Men’s and Women’s teams, in Seniors (open-age) and Masters competitions.

Why join MUHC?

We’re one of the largest, oldest, and most successful hockey clubs in Victoria, with teams for all levels of skill and interest - from Vic League 1 through to beginner and social, and everything in between.

  • We're used to welcoming many new members from all around Australia and overseas every year, so you don't need to worry that you'll be 'the new person', or that teams are already set from the previous season - everything's fresh each year! And even if you're only here for part of the season, that's okay too.

  • Great culture, and plenty of social events to get to know your clubmates.

  • Located in the heart of Melbourne, just next to the CBD.

  • Affordable - our fees are cheaper than most other clubs in Melbourne.

For elite and aspiring-elite players, we call Melbourne's premier hockey facility (State Sports Centres Parkville, formerly known as the State Netball Hockey Centre) our home both for Vic League & Reserves training and matches, and have access to the University's high performance gym. Quite simply, you won't find better in Melbourne. Elite student-athletes may also be eligible for hockey scholarships.

WINTER SEASON

Our 2025 Winter Season has concluded!

Our winter season is our main yearly competition. It’s a great chance to play in a regular league against clubs from all over Melbourne. We offer a wide variety of teams, so you'll be placed in a team that suits your skill level.

Here’s what you can expect during the winter season:

  • Weekly games: Play one game each weekend. (Some exceptions apply for Masters and top squads.)

  • Training: Participate in one to two training sessions during the week.

  • Social events: Join in on our social events and enjoy good vibes throughout the season.

The 2026 Winter Season will kick off around March / April and run through to August / September. Registrations will open in early 2026, so keep an eye on our socials and website for updates!

In the meantime, our Summer Hockey (pre-season) competition will start in November/December 2025 and run until January 2026. Keep an eye out for more details!

SUMMER HOCKEY

Our Summer Season, also known as the pre-season, is a fantastic way to get back into the swing of things before the main winter competition. It’s also the perfect opportunity for new players to ease into hockey and get a feel for the club.

This is a fun and casual mixed competition open to players of all ages and abilities. You'll get to meet new people and mingle with club members while playing some great hockey.

What to expect during our Summer Season:

  • Casual vibes: The focus is on fun and social hockey, but we still love a good contest.

  • Mixed teams: Play in mixed-gender teams with a range of skills. It's a great way to learn from others and make new friends.

  • Weekly games: Games will be held once a week, most likely on a weekday evening.

Dates and times for the upcoming Summer Season are still to be confirmed. Be sure to keep an eye on our website and social media channels for all the latest updates!
